Customers are at the center of Verizon's vision. Verizon has the scale, scope and national reach to deliver a full complement of services - voice, data, high-speed Internet access, and wireless - to customers all across the country. Verizon is committed to delivering the level of service that Internet Age customers demand: fast, responsive, customized, and reliable. With millions of customer interactions every day, Verizon is a knowledgeable, reliable provider of communications solutions. Verizon offers customers the convenience of one-stop-shopping, bundled services and simple pricing. Verizon's state-of-the-art digital networks - wireline and wireless - allow us to deliver a broad range of value-added services with maximum efficiency. Will the new Verizon offer long distance, wireless or local service? Currently, Verizon offers wireless cellular service in many markets. The company intends to offer wireless service in the former GTE cellular markets, as well. Verizon also will offer local service in all territories formerly serviced by Bell Atlantic and GTE. Verizon will offer long distance service in the states except Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, New Jersey, Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. * Some properties are currently in the process of being sold to or acquired by other companies. Customers in those properties will continue to be served by their current provider until these sales and the ensuing transitions are complete. Do I need to change the way I conduct business with Bell Atlantic and GTE? We will continue to conduct business as we do today. All of our customers should continue doing business as usual with their local business office. Customers who want to order new service, change their existing service, call repair, directory assistance or ask us a question about a product, should continue to call the same number(s) to reach us or visit the website. Will the phone numbers I call to reach you change? No. You can still reach us the way you always have. These numbers are printed in the Bell Atlantic and GTE directories, and on your phone bill. Just remember that the name will be "Verizon" when the representative answers the phone. How can I find out more about Verizon, Bell Atlantic and/or GTE? Refer to the web sites for more information: www.verizon.com, www.bellatlantic.com and www.gte.com. How do I find out about product and services that Verizon offers? Start off by visiting www.verizon.com. In most cases it is business as usual of how information is presented on www.bellatlantic.com and www.gte.com. You will be asked to self identify which company has provided your service (Bell Atlantic or GTE) prior to the merger. Self identification enables you to find the appropriate information to meet your needs. Why are there times when my click takes me off the Verizon site? We've organized information this way to answer your questions more efficiently - by connecting DIRECTLY to the sections of the Bell Atlantic and GTE sites that best meet your needs. Do I need to call someone to change my service to Verizon? No, you are already a Verizon customer. Your services haven't and won't change, unless you call and request a change. How will the merger affect my telephone rates? Is my phone bill going to increase because of the merger? The merger will not affect your phone rates at this time. The new company will review opportunities to reduce rates and offer new services. Will there be any changes on my bill? There will not be any presentment changes on your bill except for the name and logo change. Everything else stays the same. If I'm moving from former Bell Atlantic territory to former GTE territory, can I set up new phone service and discontinue current service with one phone call? No. The two companies have not yet merged systems. You should continue to pay your bills and process orders through the company with which you have service or desire service. I live half the year in the Northeast and the other half in the South. Do I get a discount if I have both a Bell Atlantic account and GTE account? Currently, these types of discount are not available. You will be notified of upcoming discounts and offers as they become available. Will my GTE or Bell Atlantic calling card still work, or should I get a Verizon calling card? Continue to use your current calling card. You will be notified of any changes to your calling cards. Your calling card and personal identification number (PIN) should continue to work. We will strive to make any changes as easy and seamless as possible. Will my prepaid calling cards still be valid? If you have a prepaid calling card, it will still be valid after the merger. I live in Virginia and my sister lives in Pennsylvania. We have both been told we no longer can use GTE Long Distance. Is this part of the move to Verizon? Because of different laws that govern Bell Atlantic in both Pennsylvania and Virginia, GTE no longer can provide long distance services to its customers in those states. We are converting current GTE Long Distance customers to the long distance carrier of his or her choice at no charge. Will my long-distance calling plan change because of the merger? If you live outside of Pennsylvania or Virginia, there is no impact on your long distance calling plan. Will my local services, like voice messaging and caller ID change because of the merger? No Will you continue to produce telephone directories in my area? Yes. Will GTE.net continue to provide my Internet service? Yes, we will continue to provide you with the same quality Internet service you've come to expect. The exact name of the Internet service provider under the new company name has not been determined yet, although it will use the Verizon brand. You will be notified of any changes as they occur. back to top |
